Surprisingly, I enjoyed The Lego Movie a lot! It has plenty of humor for adults, and brought back my nostalgic memories of my own Lego creations. One of the “villains” of the film is the Dad, who obsessive-compusively glues together the Lego pieces so as to solidify his Lego city and prevent its destruction by others, including his son. When I was little, I built a very straightforward Lego city, but every day I returned from school to find that my younger brothers had destroyed it. Upset, I would go to work to repair the city and beg my mom to keep my brothers away from the city (which she never seemed to be able to do). I was more like the Dad and my younger brothers were like the kid in this movie. Fortunately, I think that I have loosened up significantly over the years, and hopefully I will be able to give space to my own future children to be creative and have fun in their own ways.
