House of Cards delivered everything we were hoping for in its second season – surprise, tension, scheming, disappointment, satisfaction, powerful lines, and solid cinematography. It was another gripping and intelligent season, and I highly recommend it.
A critique of this season is that the sexual plot lines were overdone. It felt like the writers forced in some of the scenes in an effort to cover every possibility. While I understand that desire, it largely felt out of place in this setting.
In my opinion, the third season should also be the last season, given how things are left at the end of season 2. With most of the likable characters dead or otherwise removed from the series, the only thing left to be desired in the next season is to know how Frank Underwood’s house of cards collapses, if at all.
