I’ve always considered myself to be an observant person, noticing sights and sounds that most others miss. Sometimes the sights and sounds are quite obvious, but I give pause in awe and wonder where others pass right by. From deer camouflaged at the edge of the woods to an eagle in the sky to incredible views, I love to spot striking images around me. In fact, I even wrote this little piece while sitting on a log looking out over wetlands at Robert E. Lee Park. This past year, I’ve come to appreciate photography as a tool for better observation. My search for good shots keeps me more aware and alert to my surroundings. I’m certainly an amateur – I have no training, my iPhone is my equipment (I’d like to get a good camera this year), and I rarely edit my photos. I just have what I think is a good eye. So here are 13 of my favorite shots from last year. Enjoy!
